Back to basics with a wooden keyboard and foam

Robbie Tilton, designer at times was not limited to making devices bamboo, as we can see surge in recent years, but really wanted to materialize the will of man to return to nature.

Noting a perpetual distance civilizations vis-à-vis the nature of its raw materials, intricate and asymmetric imperfection, a question was posed: what would happen if our technology were alive , breathed? If we stimulated both visually and tactilely, our user experience and our relationship to our tools change?

Unfortunately, finding no real foam, the concept has remained the decoration with artificial foam, so you can not get an idea of the volume as a whole may take, or maintenance or ease of use he would propose.

Built for a contest, the keyboard is currently not scheduled for sale, however there are still fortunately a more radical way to escape, it is often sufficient simply to disconnect.

VIZIO announced of Windows 8

PC newcomer Vizio has announced their Windows 8 holiday lineup consisting of two all-in-one desktops, two Ultrabooks and a single notebook.

All systems include third generation Intel Core processors and ship with Microsoft’s Signature seal of approval meaning bloatware will be kept to a minimum.

The 24-inch and 27-inch AIO systems utilize full 1080p displays described by PCMag as eye-popping although as I pointed out in a recent review of HP’s Omni 27 AIO, 1,920 x 1,080 is a relatively low resolution for such a large screen. The same would likely hold true for Vizio’s new 27-inch AIO, but I digress. Both systems use a 10-point capacitive touchscreen to take advantage of Windows 8’s interactive environment. A 2.1 audio system with built-in subwoofer comes standard as well. Select models will ship with an Nvidia Kepler-class GPU for added graphical processing power. Pricing starts at $998 for the 24-inch AIO with a 500GB hard drive.

New for Windows 8 are two Thin + Light Ultrabooks; the first includes a 14-inch display while the latter ships with a larger 15.6-inch screen. There’s no touch support on board but Vizio hopes the multi-gesture trackpad will help make up for the deficiency.

Look for these two portables to start at $849. Vizio’s new 15.6-inch isn’t touch-enabled either but will ship with a similarly-enhanced trackpad like those found on the Ultrabooks. Pricing here starts at $1,129, we’re told.

The company will begin taking pre-orders for the Thin + Light systems starting tomorrow. AIO Touch PCs will be available at Vizio.com and key retailers like Amazon.com, MicrosoftStore.com and Walmart.com this holiday season

Facebook: failure and an attack claimed

On the evening of Thursday, Facebook users were unable to access the social network. A problem that did not affect the mobile version.

This failure has affected users in Europe and more particularly in Western Europe. Displaying his membership in the movement Anonymous, a man named Anonymous Own3r claimed an attack against Facebook.

An attack of Cross-site Request Forgery according to him. This type of attack is to operate a CRSF security vulnerability in order to execute queries unwanted unbeknownst to a user connected to a site via their browser.

If a problem has indeed been confirmed by Facebook, the social network has denied any attack. It evokes a DNS change within a test for traffic optimization.

This change has led to "temporary routing problems for some users." The last month, Anonymous claimed responsibility for an attack Own3r by distributed denial of service against the host and registrar Go Daddy has denied any act or any pirate attack.

Google: a new status bar on the mobile site

Google just offered a facelift to its mobile site for iOS and Android. The search engine indeed adds a new feature to its home page with the arrival of a tray side.

It appears simply by clicking on the three horizontal bars which are now displayed at the top left of the screen.

The bar provides access to various Google services in one click: Google+, Search, Images, Maps, YouTube, News, Gmail Drive, Calendar, Translation, Books, Shopping, Blogger, Reader, Photos and Videos.

This bar is thus able to replace tabs that appeared before the logo above, less accessible and therefore impractical. Now the top of the screen simply displays a Web tab, another Google+ Images and notifications.

A change bodes well for users of iOS 6, Google's mobile platform being used since the arrival of Apple's plans.

Ultra-thin laptops: Apple dominates with its MacBook Air

According to many observers, Apple has dominated the field of ultra-thin laptops this year.

For 2012, the behemoth California should indeed be able to claim 39% of the market thanks to its MacBook Air, whose prices start at $ 999 for the 11.6-inch size and 1 199 dollars for a 13.3-inch diagonal. But the situation is not at all the same in the coming months and years for the group of Cupertino, due to the price war initiated by AMD ultrathins starting with 500-600 dollars, followed by Intel with ultrabooks entry level they hope from $ 699 very soon.

Besides the inevitable clones of its own machines. In the year 2013, sales of MacBook Air may well go below 30% and eventually to 28%. Which, among us, is not so bad either, if we take into account the effect of dilution.

15 megabits / s via satellite

Abandoned for ADSL and cable, there is a solution that continues to evolve: the satellite. And the U.S. supplier offering a new HughesNet, the "Gen4". With this new offering, flows increase: 15 Mb / s downstream and 2 Mbit / s transmission, or values close to a good ADSL connection.

Limits, as often If the rates are attractive, the price is not $ 50 Basic (10/1), $ 80 for the offer "Pro" (10/2) and $ 100 for the offer "Max" (15 / 2). Then there is obviously the latency (ping), which is high. This limitation will never be removed: it depends on the distance between the satellites and the ground will remain high. In absolute terms, the minimum latency is 240 ms, excluding the latency between the ISP and the server.

Unlike some European ISPs, HughesNet still imposes limits on volumes. Management is quite complicated: Subscribers receive 10, 15 or 20 GB of data transfer per month, with 10, 15 or 20 GB in addition to use during "peak hours" (2:00 to 8:00 am). In some offers, there is also a daily limit beyond which the speed limit is reportable but the next day (and combined). In the end, the offer is interesting for people who can not access the Internet with more conventional means (without limitation), even if the rates are high.
